Losing presidential candidate Andrew Yang on the “retraining blue collar workers for the jobs of tomorrow” malarkey:
People legitimately talk about retraining coal miners to be software engineers…the reason we stretch for that is because we’re looking for some kind of…solution, when the numbers show that’s just [not going to work].
[We’re] going to retrain half a million truck drivers?? For what exactly??
While each side fearmongers this-alism or that-alism, upwards of 75% of jobs will be automated within our lifetimes.
Here are the 2 key takeaways from this (or any other political topic):
- (1) None of the things we are demonizing one another about today will be a topic of discussion in 40 years.
- (A) You’re going to be peeing into a bag. You will be (or will be relatively shortly) in hospice care– forgotten by your family, and welcoming death.
- (B) AI, automation, and post-scarcity (both economic and sexual (following mass societal upheaval, and probably war)) will render today’s controversies utterly meaningless.
The last thing you’re going to be worried about is whatever bullshit Ben Shapiro was spewing for shekels in 2019.
- (2) Nothing fucking matters. The only objectively correct way to spend one’s short time on Earth is to have sex with as many women as possible so as to dominate and ruin them for all future suitors.
