Aides and allies of former President Obama…say they could support him if he decides to run for president in 2020…Obama allies are quick to point out similarities between O’Rourke, 46, and the former president, who was 47 when he was elected.
I know what you’re thinking
|But what about Bernie??||The problem with Bernie is that he’s been too persuasive. Over the past 3 years, his once-fringe ideas have become mainstream Democrat values. He’s less attractive this cycle because younger, better-looking people have co-opted his message.|
|But what about Kamala??||Uhh, but like, where can she actually win??
She can’t win Iowa because of Bernie, she can’t win New Hampshire because of Warren– she’s going to wait until South Carolina to maybe notch her 1st victory?? That’s very Giuliani ’08.
|But what about Warren??||Warren will win New Hampshire and Massachusetts and…that’s all. The rest of her “campaign” will be an exercise in trying not to look too desperate to become a white dude’s VP.|
|But he’s too much of a cuck to beat Trump!||Never underestimate Americans’ propensity to erect presidents that are the polar opposites of their predecessors.
Here’s my only advice for Beta.
Americans hate inevitability. We like our plot twists. Nobody likes knowing the Golden State Warriors are going to win the championship before the season even starts.
So go away for awhile. Do NOT hire a pollster, raise money, attend fundraisers, sit on a corporate board, appear regularly on cable news, or encourage “will he or won’t he” chatter– just disappear, and then sneak up on us in August 2019.
