Chael Sonnen, on Joe Rogan’s podcast:
People have this absolute fetish for the Constitution…[the Founders] signed it w/ a feather, but they were also married to their cousin and they bathed once a week.
[The Constitution] wasn’t touched by the hand of God! This was written by knuckleheads w/ 8th grade educations.
Certainly, the Founders could not foresee future scientific and technological breakthroughs– nor were they privy to changing cultural perceptions and sensibilities.
But, in terms of basic education– geography, history, language, law, math, and philosophy– the Founders were at least as educated as the average member of Congress in 2016– best exemplified by Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA)…
George Washington’s formal education ended at 11-years-old.
But James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, and John Adams– the Founders commonly regarded as most responsible for the Constitution– were highly proficient in Latin, Greek, and French– and deeply immersed in history, law, and philosophy.
