In a reversal, Newt Gingrich now insists that Trump– as President and Chief Executive– cannot, by definition, commit obstruction of justice.
But in 1998, then-House Majority Leader Gingrich accused then-President Bill Clinton of…(wait for it)…obstruction of justice– which became 1 of the 4 articles of impeachment drafted by Newt’s caucus:
Article III specifically reads:
[Clinton] has prevented, obstructed and impeded the administration of justice, and has to that end engaged personally, and through his subordinates and agents, in a course of conduct or scheme designed to delay, impede, cover up and conceal the existence of evidence and testimony related to [showing his penis to Paula Jones].
One might be inclined to give Newt the benefit of the doubt– perhaps one of the most seminal moments in his life and American history merely slipped his mind– except that Newt admitted to being a sociopath less than 3 months ago:
To be fair, MFP would do the same for a few shekels.
At least Newt is getting an ambassadorship for his wife, and a few million for this ghost-written book…
