Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) is underwhelmed by the reopening of Hillary’s email case:
Uhhh, [Comey’s] letter is pretty cryptic. Um, it’s an unrelated investigation…he hasn’t even confirmed yet, uhhh, that, that the information is significant.
You may recall that as Chairman of the Benghazi Select Committee, Gowdy didn’t bother to show up for Huma Abedin’s crucial testimony– leaving the task to low-level staffers:
Chairman Gowdy is not able to make every interview. But he does talk with the staff before each interview to…ask substantive investigatory questions.
In 2013, Pat Caddell implied John Boehner and Trey Gowdy were “stonewalling” the investigation…
Caddell was later forced to walk back his criticism.
In Oct. 2015, Trump himself expressed concerns that Gowdy was covering up for Hillary:
I’m pretty good at figuring this stuff out. And he seemed to be doing…a big pivot away from Hillary Clinton!
I was trying to figure out what that was all about…I was surprised [Gowdy] pivoted away so much.
Incidentally, Gowdy is close, personal friends w/ left-wing extremist Luis Gutierrez.
