Actually, terrorism was a lot worse in the 1980’s   August 15, 2016

Actually, Reagan had a 30-point lead over Carter by summer 1980

We cannot let this evil continue.

Actually, this “evil” has declined sharply since the 70’s and 80’s.

Contrary to the cable news narrative (which profits off frightening the elderly), there are fewer terrorist incidents today than anytime since the advent of modern terrorism (as defined by violence used in conjunction w/ mass communication to advance a political agenda)…

Take just the most notable terrorist incidents from Ronald Reagan’s presidency…

1981

1982

1983

1984

1985

1986

1987

1988

If these events had happened today– and were covered breathlessly on 24/7 cable news and social media– there would be calls to prosecute a terror war against 1,000 years of Irish “extremism” (not really, but only because Irish people are hot)…

The primary difference between then and now:

The democratization of media and technology allow ratings-hungry TV hosts, faux-intellectual pundits, and low-information voters to rant about “radical X, Y, or Z” w/out any historical context.
